About me

When the practicalities of moving are over, but life still feels on hold

You may have found a home, started work or study, and learned your way around a new city, yet still feel unsettled. You may miss people who understood you without explanation, the place you worked hard to build for yourself, or the ease of speaking your own language.

I am Mansoureh Bahrami. I hold a PhD in Educational Psychology and have worked in therapy and education for more than 16 years. Living in Iran, Italy and the Netherlands has made me attentive to the role of language, culture, distance from family and rebuilding a life.

Still, migration is different for everyone, and not every difficulty comes from moving countries. We begin with your experience: what is troubling you now, the relationships that matter to you, and the changes you would like to make.

You do not need to explain everything neatly or know the name of your difficulty. We can begin with whatever feels possible to put into words today.

What we can work on together

Anxiety, depression and intrusive thoughts

If persistent worry, low motivation, low mood, or repetitive thoughts and behaviours are disrupting your sleep, work or relationships, you do not need a diagnosis before seeking support.

In sessions, we explore the severity and context of your difficulties and your goals. We then use approaches such as cognitive behavioural therapy to work on patterns of thinking and behaviour, with exercises suited to your circumstances.

Relationships, boundaries and managing emotions

Is it difficult to say no? Do the same conflicts keep recurring, or do intense emotions make decisions harder?

In individual sessions, you can gain a clearer understanding of your relationship patterns and needs, and practise expressing what you want, setting boundaries, solving problems and managing emotions. We agree goals in the context of your real life.

Understanding your concerns and choosing support

If you are unsure whether anxiety, depression, burnout or concentration difficulties best describe what you are experiencing, an initial assessment can help clarify the picture.

Questionnaires are considered alongside your history, life circumstances and everyday functioning; a score alone is not a diagnosis. I explain the findings in clear language so that you can make an informed decision about therapy or referral.

Your questions

Do you offer free therapy sessions?

Therapy is paid from the first session. Before booking, you can ask about availability, how sessions work and the arrangements for getting started.

What happens in the first session? Do I need to prepare questions?

The first session is a space to get to know each other. I listen to your story without judgement and help identify your main concerns. By the end of the session, we work towards a shared understanding of the direction of therapy and the goals you would like to reach. The therapist’s role is to facilitate this process; you do not need to prepare in advance.

Will what I say remain confidential?

Confidentiality is a priority under the professional and ethical principles of psychology. The details of your sessions are treated as confidential and protected. Feeling safe is the first step towards building a meaningful therapeutic relationship.

How long will therapy take, and how much does each session cost?

Each online session in Google Meet lasts 45 minutes and costs €35. Arrange your session time on WhatsApp first, then make the payment and send the receipt to confirm the booking. Do not pay before a time has been agreed. Bank transfer (Wise / IBAN) and PayPal are described on the Persian website; conversion rates and provider fees apply when paying in another currency. The number of sessions depends on your situation, goals and progress, and is discussed with you. Booking a first session does not commit you to ongoing therapy. Please give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule.

What if I do not feel a connection with the therapist?

Feeling comfortable with your therapist—the therapeutic alliance—is important. If you feel that the connection is not developing, please bring it up in a session. We can discuss the difficulty openly and work on it, or consider a referral to a colleague whose approach is a better fit for you.

How is therapy different from talking to a close friend?

Support from friends is valuable. A psychologist also draws on psychological knowledge and therapeutic methods to help you understand recurring patterns and underlying influences on your behaviour. Sessions focus on your inner experience, without the same concerns about judgement or the effect of what you share on a personal friendship.

How do I know whether I need psychological support?

If you feel stuck in a relationship, at work or in your emotional life, or if stress and negative thoughts are affecting your day-to-day wellbeing, it may be a useful time to start. Therapy is not only for crises; it can also offer a path towards greater self-understanding and a better quality of life.

Who are these sessions for?

I chose Ms Mansoureh Bahrami based on the reviews and am very happy with my choice. I feel very good about my sessions. People who had attended a few therapy sessions and thought that made them psychologists used to feel entitled to label me or offer advice. After talking with my dear therapist, Mansoureh, I realised that it is better to work with a qualified professional who has the knowledge and understanding, rather than listening to people who simply attach labels.
